With only one month left ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, American Snowboarder Chloe Kim could potentially pull out of her events. Kim was training in Switzerland when she had an unexpected fall while snowboarding in the halfpipe and dislocated her shoulder. Kim is seeking medical attention, getting an MRI, and hopes to be medically cleared to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics.
She’s one of the top competitors in the women’s halfpipe event, with two gold medals to her name already. Kim won the halfpipe gold medal for the first time in 2018 at 17 years old, competing in Pyeongchang, South Korea. She cemented her world champion status when she repeated the win at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. This year would mark her third Winter Olympics appearance at just 25-years-old.
It’s extremely unfortunate that Kim suffered an injury so close to the Winter Olympic Games, but thankfully, she told her fans that she’s “not in that much pain,” in an Instagram video, as she shared the news of her fall and shoulder injury.

“The minute I’m cleared and good to go, I should be fine,” she said. “I’m just hoping that doesn’t take too long.” Her confidence came through in the video, as she said she’s optimistic and is confident that her training program has prepared her to compete in the women’s halfpipe event in Italy.
Top women snowboarders have been pushing the limits in their training to achieve their peak performance to qualify and compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics snowboarding events in Livigno, Italy.
Women snowboarders sent their well wishes to Kim on Instagram. Kimmy Fasani posted, “heal up strong Chloe!!!!” and Jamie Anderson reassured her friend, “Agh love! Sending you healing vibes! You’ll be ok in no time!”
Best wishes to Chloe Kim for a quick recovery.
