Snowboarder Jamie Anderson may be most recognized in mainstream media for her medals in the Winter Olympics, Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour, Winter X Games, U.S. Open of Snowboarding and more - but the snowboarding community knows that Jamie isn't just about competition, she's about living life to the ultimate.
Jamie and her fiancé, Canadian professional snowboarder Tyler Nicholson, welcomed their daughter Misty Rose in March 2023 and have added her to their adventures. The family has been filming Great Alaska Adventure showing what their life is like flying planes, snowboarding backcountry and exploring Alaska with their baby daughter.

Jamie has dedicated her competitive snowboarding career to slopestyle and has been absolutely consistent in reaching the podium at the biggest snowboarding events on earth. She's won two Olympic gold medals in slopestyle and 21 Winter X Games medals.
Outside of slopestyle she's explored other challenges in snowboarding, including big mountain backcountry. Jamie is one of the women snowboarders featured in the film Full Moon that took top women riders into the backcountry of British Columbia. She told the crew that this was an entirely different style of snowboarding than she was used to, but she was having an epic time challenging herself with good company, including snowboarders Annie Boulanger and Robin Van Gyn.
In March 2023, Jamie shared that their daughter Misty Rose Nicholson was born during late 2022 in her hometown of South Lake Tahoe. Already destined to be a snowboarder, Misty arrived during a record snowfall in the local mountains. As the family of three settled in, Jamie posted on Instagram, "Born through the most mystical storm we've ever experienced & the largest snowfall Tahoe has [seen] in 70 years..."
If you were wondering if Jamie has slowed down since becoming a mom, the answer is no, and we love that for her. Just after Misty turned one, Jamie and Tyler made the journey to Alaska in April 2024.
Tyler is a licensed pilot and has been flying the family above and into the wilderness of Alaska and British Columbia. Having a small plane to visit remote locations is an incredible advantage if you love to explore the outdoors. Alaska has six times more pilots per capita than anywhere else in the U.S., according to The Guardian, as it can be the best way to adventure and travel the mountainous state.
Of course, we can expect there to be plenty of snowboarding in the Great Alaska Adventure and we get a peek at that in the film trailer! We see Jamie taking the drop on a steep snow-covered peak in Alaska, carving turns and throwing powder along an untouched spine.
You can also watch Jamie's fiancé Tyler snowboard insane Alaska backcountry as the couple takes a helicopter to the top of mind-blowing powdered peaks. Tyler is also a Olympian and X Games medalist.
Great Alaska Adventure is one of those snowboarding films that opens up your mind to all of the untouched mountains that are out there. Seeing what the backcountry of Alaska is like and the freedom that comes with taking alternative forms of transportation to go deeper into the mountains may pique your interest to explore backcountry snowboarding yourself!
While we're shuffling in the lift line, there's an entirely different style of snowboarding out there. Companies like CMH Heli-Skiing make dreams coming to life, taking skiers and snowboarders into the backcountry by helicopter to experience the snowboarding runs of their dreams. (Just dropping a hint and a link in case you're amped up from the film trailer.)
We'll have to wait until Jamie Anderson's full film is released in fall 2024, but we can't wait to see new footage of Jamie shredding some serious pow and living her best outside mom life with baby Misty in tow.
